It’s always a pleasure to speak at the ALDC Conference, and this past week was no different. The Association of Large Distribution Cooperatives (ALDC) is an organization established and managed by its electric distribution cooperative members. The ALDC meets twice a year to discuss key industry topics, best practices, and new technologies impacting and emerging in the electric utility industry.
I had the privilege of speaking to the group on the exciting data analytics work, click here for a copy of my presentation, that Rappahannock Electric Cooperative (REC) is currently undertaking in partnership with our subsidiary, BrilliT. Our opportunities in this area are unparalleled, and our work has and continues to be truly game-changing for REC and other cooperatives, alike. To quote Gartner, “information is the oil of the 21st century, and data analytics is the combustion engine.” As electric utilities face many changes in the industry, data analytics will have a key role in planning. From power supply, to engineering, to vegetation management, to member services, how you manage your data, and the tools you use, will be critical to effective decision making. Overall, the goal is mature your utility to achieve a foresight positioning with prescriptive analytics addressing the question on “how can we make it happen?”
The BrilliT team boasts almost 400 years in the industry and we’re using that talent to pioneer the development of custom dashboards for forecasting and reporting to help leaders better manage their cooperative in almost all areas. Our focus is to move from a reactive to proactive approach by transforming the large amount of data a cooperative already has into actionable and applicable tools.
In the spirit of cooperation among cooperatives, BrilliT is excited to support and work with other co-ops in this space. We recently hired Stephanie Harbrecht, our new Managing Director – Business Development and Operations. She comes to BrilliT with 15 years of experience working with co-ops at the NRECA and is well-suited to lead BrilliT in helping others prepare for the future.
I invite you to contact Stephanie today to explore how BrilliT can support you and your cooperative.
